Singapore Government Press Release
It will provide our residents with more convenient and affordable access to computers. I would like to commend the National Computer Board for initiating the concept, and the People's Association for readily identifying two community clubs - one in the east and the other in the west of the island, to pilot this project.
Tampines East Community Club is proud to be one of the two community clubs selected for this project. The IT Junction will be organising activities like orientation programmes and training courses. Those who have little or no knowledge of computers will find the IT appreciation programmes helpful.
Workers who are currently not totally comfortable with IT will find the training courses useful. There is something for everyone at the IT Junction. I am confident that this will reinforce community ties within our neighbourhoods.
We have received postings from residents in Canada and the US. Through their own HomePage, residents can get the latest information about their town, and give feedback to their Town Council and MPs about improvements to their estates.

On this happy occasion, I am pleased to announce that we have revamped the website and introduced new features like CyberMarket, a Residents' Committee HomePage, and a Car-pool Forum. Through these new features, we hope to create greater awareness about services and facilities in Tampines, promote participation in constituency activities, and provide more avenues for residents to get together to exchange views and ideas.
